Is Polyaspartic Polyurea Waterproof Material Safe for Human Health?

As environmental protection requirements continue to rise and people's demands for quality of life improve, stricter standards for the eco-friendliness of building materials have been set.

Polyaspartic polyurea waterproof materials serve not only as a barrier against water and moisture but also possess properties of moisture resistance, UV resistance, and slip resistance.

The two-component, weather-resistant polyaspartic polyurea waterproof material is a type of hand-applied, transparent polyurea that does not require tile removal. It is beloved by many customers due to its various characteristics such as waterproofing, moisture-proofing, slip resistance, and preservation of the original design aesthetics. Since this kind of polyurea waterproof material is directly applied to the surface of tiles and comes into frequent contact with people, some have questioned whether this type of polyurea waterproof material is harmful to the body.

In fact, this kind of hand-applied, transparent, moisture-proof material is not harmful to the body. The two-component, weather-resistant polyaspartic polyurea waterproof material is a type of polyaspartic ester polyurea coating. Its paint film does not undergo photodiscoloration or form chromogenic groups, which avoids the defects of aromatic isocyanate polymers that are not resistant to UV light and tend to yellow. It is a new type of decorative material with an aliphatic structure, slow curing, and outstanding performance.

Product Characteristics

The two-component, weather-resistant polyaspartic polyurea is specially designed for home waterproofing and leak repair. It is transparent, odorless, non-toxic, safe, environmentally friendly, easy to apply, and convenient to operate. There is no need for tile removal, grouting, or alterations to room facilities. It does not corrode tiles and can extend the service life of the room's tiles. Moreover, it can be used in environments with long-term water immersion.

Application Method

1. For tile surfaces, repeatedly grind the surface with talcum powder or cement using a broken cloth or gauze to remove the polishing wax and oil stains from the tile surface. After grinding, clean the tile surface thoroughly. For concrete or cement bases, just maintain a clean surface free of oil and dust.
2. Ensure that the base surface is solid, clean, repaired, and roughened appropriately, with a moisture content of less than 6%.
3. Components A and B should be stirred evenly before use. Accurately weigh and mix A:B=1:1 (by net weight ratio), mechanically stir for 2-3 minutes until fully mixed and then ready for application.
4. Mixed materials should be used within 30 minutes. The construction environment temperature should be between 5-35°C, and humidity should be 30-80%.
5. Mix small quantities based on actual site conditions and apply. Do not add any diluents. The material can be sprayed, brushed, or roll-applied.
6. It is recommended to apply thin layers multiple times. Generally, after the coating reaches touch dry, the second application can be carried out. If applied over a polyurea base, the application of polyaspartic polyurea should be done within 12-24 hours after completion.

Common Precautions

1. Follow the product application process strictly, stir well before use, allow for full reaction, and do not mix with other substances.
2. Wear gloves and other protective gear during application. If it accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention immediately.
